Aren’t we feeling smart! Below is an explanation of Vine by Dr. Peter McGraw, a Marketing and Psychology professor at the University of Colorado. He directs The Humor Research Lab (HuRL), dedicated to the scientific study of humor. Visit his websites at HumorResearchLab.org and PeterMcGraw.org.

The most successful viners are the one with the funniest “illusion”. You change reality by replacing items. Viners who want to have successful but mildly funny posts are the ones who successfully create an “optical illusion”.  Changing reality is a universal goal for comedy, although it is mildly funny. The biggest laughs are the comedy bits that are the most controversial and create the most friction. It all depends on your perception and your goal. Viners who want to make an alternative audience laugh will go a different path.
